Equestrian Therapy

This is a STORY of Deep Heart Connections and a Horse that Heals with His Heart ❤️

Since I was a child, I had a deep love and connection with these extraordinary animals. Horses and their quiet inner workings were something of resonance for me.

When I was upset as a young child, I would go to our stables in the Amish country log cabin farm and ask to have a horse alone. I was too young which probably wasn’t a great idea but the caretaker trusted me. I would take them and run so fast as possible and become one with the horse. The breathing. The speed. Any stuck or difficult emotion flew right out of me. I felt so free with them. I never wanted to stop. They were my go to. I could live in a field with a view and only them. They are so incredible healing.

My best friend in Australia, one of the most thoughtful humans on earth, made a donation in honor of my birthday and my love for both equestrian therapy, ballet and performing. She chose this incredible gifted horse (Dr Peyo) in the south of France who can detect tumors and ill people, choosing to be next to them.

Dr. Peyo came to Hessen Bouchakour as a world champion dressage horse (often described as horse ballet).

Yet at one point Bouchakour almost gave this fiery stallion up for sale & they did not click. Peyo’s attention was elsewhere & instead started to move towards people in the audience who were sick. He approached them with great tenderness. Peyo had a different purpose ahead of him.

Together Peyo & Bouchakour embarked on a 3 year journey.

“After years of competitions & equestrian shows, this duo left the front of the stage to join a radically different world: that of medicine, solidarity & human dignity. Scientists are studying Peyo’s instinctive ability to detect cancers & tumors in humans & his choice to accompany certain patients until their last breath. They say, after 4 yrs of research & having tested more than 500 horses in recent years (including his own foals), doctors & vets have been able to observe such cerebral functioning, Only in Peyo.”

He has brought so much comfort & joy to so many.

So anyone who loves animals & equine therapy and values these deep-rooted miraculous bonds between humans and animals, please consider donating to this incredible Dr. Peyo Horse in Calais, France. I wish he may continue his unexpected, purposeful path and journey to offer love and healing to so many more in need in the moments when they count the most.

Healing Haven Equestrian Therapy with Peyo

“Some of the most interesting science behind equine facilitated learning focuses on the measurable heart connection between horses and humans. But science alone cannot adequately explain how horses heal humans or the sense of wonder it evokes. Recently, as I was writing a chapter in my book about horses and healing, I watched some videos of a very special French stallion named Peyo from the Dijon region of rance. In the video, Peyo and his person, Hassen Bouchakour, visit EHPAD des Orchards of Chartreuse de Dijon, a convalescent hospital serving people with Alzheimer’s and other end-of-life issues. After backing out of his horse trailer and negotiating the elevator, Peyo chooses which room to enter. He invariably seeks out people that are very, very sick or close to dying, and his healing presence brings great joy to the suffering. Though the video is in French, no translation is needed to witness the healing power of Peyo’s generous heart.”
